‘Christmas celebration’ - Sunday 8 december 2019

The Maesbury Singers returned once again to the beautiful All Saints Church, Castle Cary to perform their annual Christmas concert.

Under their new conductor, Matthew Redman, they tackled difficult works by John Sheppard and William Walton, as well as singing some favourites such as Morton Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”; guaranteed to bring a lump to the throat.

Emily Mullins accompanied the choir in “O Little One sweet” by choir member Margaret Woodley. Emily also played the beautiful harp solo from Britten’s Ceremony of Carols.

Various members of the choir read selected poems and other passages. The congregation joined in some well known carols.

A concert enjoyed by all who attended and took part
